Beach Wedding Photography - An Insight
Are you planning on having your wedding shots taken on the beach, a few ideas to help you choose the right photographer.
Having your wedding shots taken on the beach is a dream of many brides, the setting is stunning, the beach is beautiful and if the images are captured correctly, you get the most amazing images in your wedding album that are totally unique. However, get this worng and you get images that really fail to impress, taking photos with the sea as a back drop isn't an easy task, probably why there are so few really good seascape and surf photographers.
One of the main issues here is the light, it is far brighter on a beach than inland requiring a specialist lense to cope with the light and the reflections. Your images should capture the light but a bride in an ivory or white dress against a really bright background can appear pale if the correct lense isn't used. To make matter more complicated, you can't control the weather in this country so you may be photographing in overcast conditions where the light in certain areas is dull and in other areas is really bright, therefore, capturing the shot that encapsulates the entire background with a bride and groom in the foreground is obviously a skilled task.
Now that you know the kind of issues faced by a beach wedding photographer, who should you choose. In the UK, it is quite a simple case that the most experienced beach wedding photographers live by the beach and photograph seascapes and beach wedding photography on a regular basis. We have miles of fantastic coastline but the South West is the obvious choice when looking for an experienced beach photographer, although there are plenty of other beautiful beaches throughout the UK, so this is not an exclusive search for the right for South West wedding photographers.
Our first stop is Christian Michael, the leading Cornwall wedding photographers and ranked in the top 10 wedding photographers in the UK by Photo Pro Magazine, they have extensive experience of beach wedding photography and a quick look at their web site will provide a great deal of insight into their style. Very few standard posed shots can be found and the beach wedding photos have a serious mood that relfects the conditions. The top 3 images are from Christian Michael.
The second stop is Adrian at Kensa Photography in Devon. Another South West wedding photography company that specialises in beach wedding photography and is often chosen for weddings at all of the beach side wedding venues in Devon and further afield. Images from Kensa are below the first three images.
